My observations of urban-art, street-art, indie craft, the stuff that makes me happy, from the streets of Adelaide, Melbourne, Australia and wanderings around the world.

Sand-ring-ham
That was a long weekend of work. Carolyn H feeling under the weather, 350+ punters, an exciting 'stanley' spotting on the H2 breeze-way, but the tils balanced and we survived.
romance of train travel
Was great to see Drew & Pup (Neil) last night before crashing into bed - it had been a long for me . Today ...Up early-ish, missed the 8:29am train into the city - just:-(. So I walked through Alma Park to Windsor station while waiting for the 9:09. Caught the 9:32 to Hurstbridge from Parliament station the piped muzik echoing along the tube was a less than inspiring way to start the day! 10:06 bus to Heide, stocked up on my favourite milk and snacks for the day and managed to get in the door my 10:20 Yah!

Wash out
The good thing about waiting to get picked up at Richmond station at 6:30 am? watching the rain washing away the grime and the play of light across the road surfaces creating patterns and added to the eerie isolation.

Un-hinged
Garage sale preparation today at Heide MoMA. Bookshelves, tables, chairs, computer and black & white security monitors, electrical stuff, some back catalogue stock, funky yellow art-crates and assorted acrylic boxes. Surprisingly the bunker a little empty now the archive material has been filed and removed for storage. Anyone wanna buy a 2-ring binder? box of 6 for .50cents. Bargain time

Early start with the weekly team meeting, then front-of-house and Fluffy returns from Adelaide - yah! Won't see much of the man as he's working a late - no rest for the wicked.

A new leaf
A lazy day off in the shade to recharge. Absent friend for a while Alan came to visit was great to catch-up. Finally got around to seeing Pans Labyrinth - WOW ! Straight to the top of my movie list . So beautiful with the magical elements balanced by the ultra realistic violence. Had the greek-boy and I immersed in conversation all the way home. If you have not seen it ... Go soon and see it on the BIG screen.

Homeward bound
Avoided the lack of public transport issue by getting a lift home with Lesley A, air-conditioned comfort and not too much traffic. The horizon was grey and muggy - might just get that thunderstorm. Arrived to an empty house - Fluffy in Adelaide til Thurs.

Hot stuff
What happened to the thunderstorms? Hot dry day - could feel the heat coming through the skylight in the store. Museum air-con perfect for a shade seeking creature like me. Almost melting on way home.
Bend your knees
Spent Friday checking off a few chores. Visited my Tax Agent - I now have an ABN. Dropped in on Paul to see his Pilates studio on Izett St. Organised and filed pix. Investigated podcasting. Cookie dropped in for a snack. Hot-cross buns on Sale at Coles already!

The Buzz
The beginning of my weekend - 2 days off in a row! Thurs - doctors appointment, blood results back - all good - no action required - Yah!. Dropped in to see Fulup just back from Tasmania. Enjoyed the view and got to try out his new coffee machine. Mmmmmm caffiene makes me perky. Did a little bit of retail therapy at Rebel new white Everlast sneakers at 40% OFF the already discounted price - Could have gone crazy alas all too small. New friend Matt dropped by for coffee in the afternoon. Is it a wonder I don't sleep some nights?

Looks promising
A warm and muggy afternoon followed by flashes in the distance with rumbling and groaning. No rain No water for my garden. Grey moody clouds full of promise but no real relief. Hope it really pours soon.

Monkey Balls
The Osage Orange grove at work is a little thirsty. The fruit is small this year about the size of golf balls.
Hands up in the air...
Attended Carnival and T-dance yesterday - the closing events of the Midsumma festival. Went with Nursie, the Greek Boy & Zen. Was great to see Pony and Marcus, Marc, Marc (baby-bear), Adam, Andrew M & reptilian friend, Cookie, Travis and all the usual suspects. Had a good boogie under the trees. Note to caterers and event organisers - if you are going to charge $20 bucks entry ensure bar service does not exceed 45 minutes! Queens hate to queue - perhaps its a responsible serving of alcohol message?

Chainsaw chick
Lingo Bingo
Australians seem to love a bit of slang. Key words and phrases at work at the moment include: issues, unfortunate, I'm not over the detail, WIP = work in progress, budgetary restraint, FOH = front of house, BOH = back of house, YTD = year to date, SOH = stock on hand, SMEC = Sidney Meyer Education Centre, call centre = main office, stanley/s = snake, Bob = facilities Manager, Bear cave = my office. What language do u speak at work?
Recycled art
It's a tin can critter. Discovered this last night whilst strolling down Chapel Street at the Dandenong Road intersection. Cute domestic art from recycled materials always a joy to behold

Catch me..
Time to take a leap?
I think my friend Nicola is right I am a frustrated buyer! Maybe 2007 will be the year to invest in myself and do something I believe I in - instead of getting annoyed at a lack of vision in others?

True grit
Essential reading in my pursuit of healthy aussie glow? Perhaps grow a body first? Nursie has a great stack of these magazines for inspiration and the insightful reading material. RE the tan I have enjoyed being a pale thang for a long time but I am trying some controlled burning and an everyday fake tan to see how orange I go!
Circle of friends
My buddy Peter sent me the following txt msg over the weekend "F.U.C.K. stands for "Friends U Can Keep" So promise me, you'll F.U.C.K. Me 4ever! Send to 10 ppl including me, & c who F.U.C.Ks u back." made me laugh and I sent out into the wild for a response. All good, but I must remind myself before hitting send this kind of stuff can be like spam email - annoying (and expensive if you tally up the txt msgs) Belated apologizes to all. Pic is of a billboard at Richmond Station - apparently it does matter how big your shampoo bottle is!
